4 Incredible Drugstore Beauty Buys

As much as I love luxury beauty products, there's nothing better than stumbling across a bargain beauty find! This summer I've been scouring the shelves of Boots and Superdrug (England's drugstores) and I've found some new, and rediscovered some old, beauty favourites. I've brought together my favourite budget haircare, bodycare and makeup, and I hope you spot something that you'll like as much as I do.

As a teenager, I remember Aussie haircare being somewhat of a staple. The brand offers affordable, reliable products that really outperform their price bracket. Recently, I decided to revisit Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle range, comprising a number of different deep conditioning treatments. I opted for the 'Reconstructor Deep Treatment' and I haven't looked back! This is by far my favourite drugstore hair mask, and I actually prefer it to a number of the high-end equivalents that I've tried. Aussie's deep treatment leaves my mid-length fine hair looking beautifully shiny and feeling really soft and smooth, completely justifying the three minute application. Like myself, I know many people might have tried this product in the past - but I urge you to revisit the range, after years of investing much more money in my haircare this deep conditioing treatment has still really impressed me.

Back in the spring I decided that I wanted a bit of a break from black mascara. I don't know about you, but I've been wearing black mascara pretty much from the first moment that I started wearing makeup. So in the spirit of trying new things (and embracing slightly more conservative and mature everyday makeup) I swapped in a brown mascara from Maybelline. To put it bluntly, I love it. It's a really subtle change but it makes a big difference to the way I look, softening everything up a little bit. Plus, Maybelline's Lash Sensational Lash Multyplying Mascara has a lovely brush which really does my eyelashes a lot of favours, adding both thickness and length. I wish more of my favourite drugstore mascaras came in brown, but until they do I can see myself happily repurchasing this one.

I must have been singing the praises of Lanolips lip ointments for years now. Since I first discovered the original 101 Lip Ointment (which just so happens to still be my favourite) the range has really expanded, incorporating coloured varieties as well as new fruity flavours. I've been lucky enough to work with Lanolips in the past so I've been able to try the majority of their range. However, if I could only recommend one product then I'd either point you towards the 101 Lip Ointment - no colour, a seriously gorgeous glossy finish and exceptional moisturising properties - or one of the tinted varieties, which offers all the same benefits but can also double as your daily lip colour. Next up on my wishlist is their Banana lip balm, which sounds like heaven in a tube!

one little vice beauty blog: best drugstore shower oil

This is probably my latest discovery, and I'm really happy about it! I've been using L'Occitane's Almond Shower Oil for years, and this is about as close a dupe as I've ever found. These shower oils are great to use in conjunction with shaving, as they really help razors glide over the skin offering a super smooth finish. I also like using them in place of a body wash - something about using a gently foaming shower oil transforms even a boring morning shower into a more exciting and opulent experience. Plus, at less than a quarter of the cost of L'Occitane's Almond Shower Oil, I feel as though I can be a little bit more carefree with the Dove alternative. This is one of those drugstore beauty products that I can see myself repurchasing over and over again.

Have you tried any of the products in today's post?

  1. Completely agree with you on Aussie haircare. I recently purchased that mask because it was on offer (after trying it a few years back) and I do still really like it! It's so good at detangling my unruly bleached hair.
