June Non Beauty Favourites

Writing a June Non-Beauty Favourites is something a little bit different for me. My blog has been dedicated to beauty posts for a really long time, but you might have noticed that I'm trying to slowly transition it, and my social media, into a space where I can talk about more than just my love of beauty. Living in London there are so many opportunities to discover new places to go and things to do and I want to be able to talk about them all. I find it incredibly fun to share what I get up to beyond my beauty interests and I really hope that I can make it exciting for you too. I thought that a good addition to my usual post line-up would be to give you an overview of the best non-beauty bits from my month. Do let me know if you enjoy these sorts of posts in the comments, or if you prefer watching favourites videos to reading blog posts - I'd love to know your thoughts.

Summer wardrobes can be a little bit tricky - especially in cities like London where the weather often can't quite make up its mind. I'm always on the look out for smart-casual options that can be dressed up or down depending on the choice of shoes or top, and although they're never going to look super formal I do think that Gap's "Printed Jogger Pants" are quite versatile. They're also the comfiest things ever, almost to the point that you question whether they're actually secretly pyjamas. If you're into your prints then I think you'll quite enjoy the range, I'm particularly into all the monochrome options!

I've always been fond of a classic G&T - it might be a bit clichéd but I just can't help but love them. However, I recently attended a bar re-launch where I had the opportunity to try a new twist on the old classic. Sipsmith was the gin of choice (and it really is quite something!) but what really brought the entire drink alive were Fever-Tree's tonic waters. The Elderflower Tonic Water is particularly nice and sweetens things up just a notch. However, if you're not fond of elderflower then the Lemon Tonic is also a really good choice. Basically, I'm enamoured with Sipsmith Gin and Fever-Tree Tonics are a perfect accompaniment - and I can't see this new love of mine waning any time soon.

My restaurant review of Mama Lan went live a couple of days ago and the memory of the Woodear  Mushroom, Spinach and Vermichelli Dumplings hasn't yet faded! I really was impressed with the delicious texture and generous size of the dumplings, and although they weren't quite as flavoursome as I'd prefer they are incredibly more-ish. If you live near Brixton or Clapham and fancy a quick bite of Chinese street food then I'd definitely stop by Mama Lan for a plate (or two!) of their dumplings.

Visiting Taste of London was an incredible experience for me, and I'm so grateful to have been invited along! I actually attended the event with my dad because it's exactly the sort of thing that he enjoys. We had the most fun just exploring all of the restaurant stalls and sampling dishes from places that we'd never even heard of before, but that we certainly won't forget about now! If you're into food and London's fine dining scene then Taste of London is an absolute must. It showcases 40 of the top restaurants in the capital, as well as countless other food producers, and also gives you the opportunity to watch celebrity chefs in actions. It's a food-heavy day set against the backdrop of London's Regent Park, and if you get the glorious weather that we had this year then it's a wonderful way to spend a day. I had a lot of fun and I'd definitely pay to attend again next year.
